HJ Equine Training was started by Ashley Johnson in 2010. Ashley has been riding since 2001 and has competed in hunter, jumper, dressage and eventing competitions; across Alberta, British Columbia and Costa Rica as well as other smaller shows in other provinces. Ashley has not competed in the last few years but is still working with horses, returning from Saskatchewan (summer 2010).
While in Saskatchewan Ashley expanded her knowledge of; halter-breaking, ground driving, flagging, and starting young prospects, as well as working with experienced horses.
Ashley went to Costa Rica in 2009 to compete in a CCI* competition in which the riders drew a horse and competed on that horse against the horses owner and other competitors. The rules and regulations were as followed; trial day #1 you had a 45 – 1 hour ride, maximum time was 1 hour, you had a total of 6 fences to jump. Ashley drew 2 horses and won overall champion on one horse, and received overall 3rd place on the second horse.
During Ashley’s competition years she had a morgan gelding by the name of Canalta Dillon where she jumped up to 4 foot, competing a solid 3’9”, schooling cross country to training level, a couple prelim fences, and competing cross country in the pre-training level.

In March of 2013 Ashley went to Oliver, BC to become a CHA Certified Instructor and is pleased to be accepting lesson students.
HJ Equine Training specializes in bringing up young horses to their full potential, if it is getting training to be sold, or training for another rider.
